For the 2016 - 2017 Academic Year, the ITMSA will aim to provide students with new events and opportunities to get involved. Our team also exists to fulfill an open-door policy. We are always open to suggestions and ideas, so please feel free to reach out to us regarding any new initiatives that you would like to see throughout the year or even if you are simply seeking advice. In a literal sense, our office door is always open for you to drop by and to just sit down and have a casual chat. We wish everyone the best of luck in the upcoming academic year!
Abrar is a fourth year co-op student and has also been with the ITMSA for four years - starting off as an Associate and is now the President. She's also probably the biggest BTM fangirl you will ever meet and for good reason. Ryerson's BTM is as good as IT gets by providing the resources and support to learn fundamental hard and soft skills to excel in the current workplace, translating from the business to IT worlds.
Abrar's time in BTM and the ITMSA has been invaluable to her personal and professional growth throughout the past four years. She would more than recommend anyone get involved - enriching her university career with extracurriculars has been one of the best decisions she made at Ryerson.
In her spare time, she reads and spends probably more time than she should be sleeping.
VP of Events
Nimrah is going into her final year of BTM and has been on the ITMSA for three years. Joining the ITMSA in her second year was a great opportunity. ITMSA provides you with not just professional experience but you grow personally and become a well rounded person. Plus, you get to be part of an amazing family. This year she is the Vice President of Events and can't wait to share what her team has been working on this summer!
She chose BTM because it brings you the best of the business
world and the best of the IT world. Take it from someone who had no idea what she wanted to do and chose BTM because it provided a middle ground. BTM will give you loads of opportunities to grow professionally and work with different areas of the tech sector, so make sure you don't miss out on any of them. And if you're confused drop by her office hours. Our door is always open!
VP of Marketing
Usama is a 4th year BTM major and currently works at the Canadian Tire office downtown. Its his first year being involved in ITMSA, taking on the role of VP of Marketing. For the upcoming academic year, he hopes to reach out to students of all years within TRSM and provide them with opportunities to interact and network with industry professionals. He is also passionate about enhancing BTM’s brand image; academically as well as socially for the future high school grads.
In his spare time, Usama is usually attached to his laptop, most likely watching Game of Thrones or streaming the Raptors games. He usually hangs out around the breakout rooms in TRS to study, or at the Upper Gym dropping buckets. He is very approachable and enjoys counselling students, so make sure to say hello if you see him around campus!
VP of Advancement
Spencer is in between his 3rd and 4th year in the BTM program, and is the VP of Advancement for the 2016-17 school year. After joining ITMSA as an Associate in September 2015, there has been no slowing down, as he set his eyes on a VP role, which will enable him to contribute largely to ITMSA and the BTM program as a whole. One of Spencer’s main focuses is to enhance every aspect of his personal and professional growth, and ITMSA will assist him in doing so. Spencer is incredibly passionate about the Information Technology field, and realizes that BTM is the place to be in this digitally driven World.BTM is a very rewarding program, with an emphasis on giving students the necessary background in Business and IT, in turn, students are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to excel in any industry.
VP of Finance
I am an outgoing energetic person and I love learning new things whether it be through travelling or documentaries. Among other things I enjoy playing all sports and keeping active! Also spend my life at Ryerson which is enjoyable in its own bitter sweet way. At Ryerson the BTM program is “As good as IT gets”, because of the experience that is given through the amazing faculty and the support offered, as well as fellow classmates whom make this whole experience that much better by always helping one another, asking questions, and hungry to learn new things.
Head of Case Competition Committee
Director of Academic Events
Simran is a second year Business Technology Management student at Ryerson University. This will be her second year being a part of the ITMSA. She chooses to be a part of student groups at Ryerson when she was in her first year because she wanted to continue to foster her skills in event planning. During the year of 2016-2017, as the director of academic affairs, she will work towards providing BTM students with events that will give students the opportunity to network with industry professionals.
Come visit Simran to talk about life and all other matters during her office hours on Mondays from 1-2 in TRS 3-141! And as always...never forget; (best put by Frank Underwood) “If you don’t like how the table is set, turn over the table”.
Director of Information Technology
Greg is a 4th year BTM student and is very stoked to be this year's Director of IT. His daily routines consist of web development, staying up to date with emerging technologies and working on his online business. When he isn’t working, he’s probably travelling around the world searching for new adventures or spending quality time with friends and family. He chose the Business Technology Management program so that he could pursue a degree in Commerce while developing his skills and understanding in IT.
Director of Case Competitions
I’ve been studying Business Technology Management at Ryerson University since 2014, during which I have lived in downtown Toronto and got the opportunity to explore the massive and exciting city and learn the lifestyle; a huge change for me because I lived in the suburbs my whole life before coming to Ryerson. I’ve been a musician for almost my entire life, learning many different instruments along the way, and living in Toronto has allowed me to start performing in public venues. I think that BTM is the right choice for me because it has given me the chance to exponentially expand my network, whether it was meeting my new colleagues or attending events to speak with industry professionals.
Director of Case Competitions
Director of Campus Outreach
Fern is a second year Business Technology Management Student who is super excited to be the director of campus outreach. After transferring from the university of guelph she has found a home in the BTM community at ryerson and hopes to help others find a home here as well.
Director of Graphics
My name is Andrea Zapata, and I’m in 3rd year of Graphic Communications Management. I’m a new recruitment to the team, and can’t wait to work with them in planning future events and giving back to the BTM community. Though I’m not a BTM student myself, I admire the drive and potential each person has. I love everything graphics and visual art related (yes this includes comics and manga, naturally) and on my free time you’ll probably see me with sketchbook in one hand, coffee in the other. I’m also a self-taught guitar and bass player. Now that you know a bit about me, I’m looking forward to making sure each design represents just how awesome the ITMSA team, and BTM is as a whole.
Director of Social Media
Thoughts unorthodox, success typical. After helping Itmsa make a strong presence face to face as Campus Outreach Manager, Samuel Kieme 3rd year BTM student has decided to take on social media as ITMSA’s Social Media Director. With his love of entertainment, sports and obviously the BTM Program. He will make sure that ITMSA engages with their core audience in a captivating manner!
